BCCI in its tweet said, “Indian Cricket Team is playing this match today with black armbands on their arms in honor of Bharat Ratna Late Smt. Lata Mangeshkar Ji left for her heavenly journey on Sunday morning.  Queen of melodious voice Lata didi always loved cricket, and she has supported this sport, and supported her team.”

Earlier, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla has confirmed that the Indian cricket team will play the first ODI match of India vs West Indies at the sad time of the demise of K Lata Mangeshkar Ji by tying a black band on their arm.

Lata Mangeshkar Ji passed away on Sunday morning on 6 February 2022 and he breathed his last at the age of 92. Earlier there were reports about Lata Mangeshkar Ji that she has improved her health by showing a good recovery, but on Saturday she was put back on the ventilator, and on Sunday she took her last breath.
