MS Dhoni Reach 5000 Runs in IPL 2023, a Remarkable T20 Milestone

During the Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), MS Dhoni added another achievement to his already impressive record. Despite having a brief 3-ball stay in the middle and batting at number 8 for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), he managed to hit two massive sixes before departing back to the pavilion.

Despite hitting another significant shot on the third ball he faced, MS Dhoni’s inning was cut short as Ravi Bishnoi caught him. However, Dhoni’s second six in the match allowed him to reach a remarkable milestone – becoming the seventh batsman in the IPL’s history to cross the 5000 runs mark in the T20 league. It is noteworthy that he achieved this feat in just 3 balls in the game.

With the help of Dhoni’s impressive sixes, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) managed to surpass the 215-run mark, setting a total of 217 runs in 20 overs. Dhoni has been associated with CSK since 2008, playing his debut IPL season with the team. He remained a part of the Yellow Army from 2008 to 2015 and played for Rising Pune Super Giants in 2016 and 2017, where he scored 574 runs in 30 matches. Throughout his IPL career, Dhoni has scored a total of 430 runs in 206 matches for CSK.

Virat Kohli holds the top spot on the list of batsmen with the most runs in IPL. The Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman has scored an impressive 6706 runs in 224 matches, making him the only batsman in IPL history to exceed 6500 runs.

Virat Kohli is the highest run scorer in the IPL with 9779 runs from 193 matches. He is followed by Shikhar Dhawan, who has 6284 runs from 207 matches and is currently leading the Punjab Kings in IPL 2023. David Warner, with 5937 runs, is in third place and is close to reaching the milestone of 6000 runs in the T20 league as the captain of the Delhi Capitals.

Suresh Raina is currently placed at the fifth spot in terms of the highest runs scored in the Indian Premier League (IPL), with a total of 5528. He had held the highest spot for a considerable amount of time in the past. It is quite remarkable that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are playing at Chepauk stadium without the presence of their former batsman, Raina.
