With the end of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, it was revealed that Australia has emerged as a World Cup winner. And with this, the ICC also announced the name of the team of the tournament according to the custom. Where 12 players were kept as a team, and Babar Azam was chosen as the captain of this team.

The team included three players from Australia, 2–2 players from England, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and South Africa, and only players from the New Zealand cricket team.

The selection panel included commentators Ian Bishop and Natalie Germanos and Shane Watson, as well as two journalists. Ian Bishop said that as in the selection of any team, we respected everyone’s different opinion. And had a strong discussion on the composition of the team that a channel should do. We encourage a strong debate that will move forward.

Ian Bishop said that we as a panel have realized that strike rate is very important for batsmen. And as far as possible we have tried to select the players from their starting team position, this is really an intention and not a reality. And we don’t even need to make any kind of compromise in this.

Babar Azam was chosen as the captain in this team, David Warner and Jos Buttler were selected as openers from Australia cricket team.

South Africa’s Babar was selected and Sri Lanka’s Charit Aslanka and Markram were selected, Moeen Ali was selected as the utility all-rounder and among the bowlers, Vanindu Hansaranga and Adam Zampa were selected.

Apart from these, Josh Hazlewood, Trent Boult and Enrich Nortje were also selected. In this, Shaheen Afridi was also chosen and the name of Mohammad Rizwan was discussed a lot, because he played a very important role.

The names of the full 12 players are as follows – David Warner, Babar Azam, Jos Buttler, Charit Aslanka, Aidan Markaram, Moeen Ali, Vanindu Hasaranga, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood, Trent Boult, Anrich Nortje and Shaheen Afridi. All these players were selected in the Team of the Tournament.

It was a very surprising case where out of the 12 players, none of the Indian players were included, and not even a single West Indian player was included.

Australia became a winning team and that is why three players were included from their team. And the inclusion of Babar Azam of Pakistan in the team also became a matter of great surprise.
