Shikhar Dhawan is an Indian cricketer who plays for the national team and represents Delhi in domestic cricket. Recently, he made headlines for his personal life, particularly his marriage, which faced difficulties. He got married to Aesha Mukerji in 2012 and they have now officially divorced.

The couple had a son named Zorawar in 2014, and Aesha had two daughters from a previous marriage. Their marriage went through a challenging phase in 2020, leading to their divorce filing in 2021.

Shikhar obtained the divorce through the Family Court in the Patiala House Complex, Delhi. In his divorce petition, he mentioned enduring cruelty and emotional pain because Aesha prevented him from seeing their son, Zorawar, for years. The judge, Harish Kumar, accepted Shikhar’s claims since Aesha did not offer a defense.

During the divorce and child custody proceedings, Aesha took Zorawar to live in Australia, which kept Shikhar away from his son for nearly three years. The Delhi family court instructed Aesha to bring Zorawar back to India for a family reunion. Judge Harish emphasized that a father has rights to their child, and Shikhar’s wish for Zorawar to meet his grandparents was deemed reasonable.

In a previous interview, Shikhar Dhawan discussed his decision not to marry again. He mentioned that “I failed because the final decision is the person’s own. I don’t point fingers at others. I failed because I was not aware of that field. The things I talk about cricket today, I wouldn’t have been aware of the same 20 years back. It comes with experience. Right now my divorce case is going on. Tomorrow, if I want to marry again, I will be much wiser in that field. I’ll know what kind of girl I need; someone whom I can spend my life with.”
